It’s Been a While…

Wow! I can’t believe that it’s been so long since my last blog post. Right after my last post, I wound up getting sick :-( It took me longer than I wanted to fully recover. Then I just got busy with Life and it seemed like I never had enough time to give my blog the attention it deserved. I’ve been working hard to make time for it since I do love it.

Here’s  a short update on what I’ve been up to the past couple months:

~ Finsihed Turbo Fire program :-) I will have a blog post on the last day and a general review of what I thought of it and how it worked for me coming soon.

~ Sneaker Head campout in Berkeley. This was such an interesting couple days.

~ Celebrated Seppe’s preschool graduation and chaperoned Gio’s End of the Year 1st Grade Picnic. I now have a kindergartner and 2nd grader :-)

~ Went to the SF Zoo for the first time with our very good friends. 6 hours of walking around can be very tiring!

~ Two camping trips – one week apart. If you follow me on Instagram (msmammamia) you can see all the beautiful sunrises I posted from our second camping trip.

~ Completed the 5DSD: I will have a blog post that summarizes my first time with the 5DSD.

~ Started the 30DayAbChallenge with Sophie and a whole bunch of other girls :-) Follow me on Twitter @Mia_Butterfly for all my check-in videos. Follow Sophie @sophiehowl27 and Susan @stronglikesusan for the challenge info. This is such a great challenge that really work your abs!

~ Still training for my first Half Marathon. I’m up to 11.5 miles :-/

~ Completed Bikini Series Challenge and entered in the contest. Sadly, I wasn’t a winner of the amazing prizes, but I did win a much bigger prize :-) A body I can rock a bikini in along with the confidence to rock it and a wonderful community that supports me every day.  It’ my one year anniversary with Tone It Up!! I’ve been working on a page about my journey with them. Hoping to have it up soon. There will be lots of Before and After pics :-)

So I do have a lot coming :-) I’m thinking of doing a special giveaway to celebrate my 1 year of being part of the Tone It Up family. It has really changed my life and is such a big part of my life now. This past year has been absolutely amazing for me. I’ve done so many things that I never thought I could and I’ve had so much fun. Every part of my life has become better and I am truly happy. I’ve met so many wonderful people who inspire, motivate and support me. And I want to Thank those of you who have taken time to read my blog. Stay tuned for more info on the Giveaway :-)

I’m Going to be an Aunt!!

The Best news of the day: My brother called me tonight and told me that he and his wife are pregnant!! woo hoo! I’m finally going to be an Aunt! I am very excited and happy for my brother. He is going to be a Wonderful father.

Other good news: Ben is finally got his medical clearance to go back to work. It’s been over a month and it really didn’t have to take as long as it did. That’s the government for you :-P

BeachBody Day76 – I would have loved to do the Bikini Series challenge of the Drop10 Mojo Maker for my bootycall but Ben was at work early in the morning so I had to wait until after I dropped the boys off at school. I did the Drop10 Sculpting 12 reps X3s sets for my bootycall.

Morning Workout: Drop10 Mojo Maker on the elliptical 30 min. Followed with Turbo Fire.

Drop10 Mojo Maker

Turbo Fire Day 74 – I went for all the tuck jumps today for HIIT25. omg! That was soooo hard. I’m glad that I did the elliptical earlier because my knees were feeling it after I was done with the HIIT workout. I’m still sore from the Bikini Bootcamp workout so Tone30 was a little tough for me today. I really like the exercise with the lower body band that works the quads.

Afternoon Workout: I didn’t know what to do for my later workout. Part of it was because I wasn’t sure when Ben was coming home. If he got home early enough I thought I’d go for a bike ride. But he didn’t. Luckily Tone It Up posted their Throw Back Thursday workout: Beach Babe from last year’s Bikini Series. I really liked this one. When I looked at today, I realized that I was doing reps but the print out had 20-30 sec intervals.  I created an interval workout with my gymboss timer app and did 30 seconds for each exercise X3 rounds. This had me sweating!

Beach Babe X3

Another part of today’s Bikini Series challenge was a 30min walk after dinner. I loved this idea – only problem was that it was raining and the boys were really fussy tonight. I had to wait until after I put them to bed and then I hit the gym. Walked on the elliptical for 30 min with an incline.

30min walk on an incline – Started at 8 ended at 3.

Found a 5min ab routine from Self Magazine that I wanted to try out. It took me a little longer than 5min. It was really tough. The reverse plank move was the hardest for me. I wasn’t good at balancing myself while crunching. Ended with 25 pushups and a 5min plank with tummy tucks and side planks.

1min plank, 1min tummy tucks, 30 sec side plank each side, 1min tummy tucks, 1 min plank

Meals:

M1: Chobani Champions Very Berry with almond butter and chia seeds. My favorite go to quick breakfast.

M2: grapes

M3: Lettuce wraps with shredded chicken, tomatoes, mangos, and avocado. Snapea Crisps on the side.

Lunch!

M4: Luna bar.

M5: Left over Panko Chicken with Turkey Spinach Red Sauce on top. Broccoli on the side. Basically just finished off all the left overs that no one else wanted to eat.

80 oz. water.

Feeling the Bikini Bootcamp

BeachBody Day75 – Turbo Fire Rest Day

I could feel the Bikini Bootcamp workout from yesterday when I woke up this morning :-/ Sore legs and sore chest and I’m happy about it :-) It means that I really worked hard yesterday. I’ll have to do that one again soon. Despite being sore, I got up to do a 40min bootycall. I did Under the Seax3 and Beach Bumx3. These were tough with sore legs.

Morning workout was Bikini Abs and Bikini Booty from Tone It Up’s Beach Babe DVD :-)

Afternoon workout was a 5 mile run. Ended with a 3min plank.

Meals:

M1: Chobani Honey with granola and chia seeds. This was the regular size and it was sooo filling.

Grown up Chobani :-)

M2: Half a grapefruit with stevia.

One of my Favorites!

M3: Chocolate Shakeology with unsweetened almond milk, spinach, and frozen blueberries.

M4: Almond Coconut Kind Bar.

M5: Salmon Patty topped with fresh pineapple, mushrooms, tomatoes, and avocado on top of spinach with a side of kale chips.

60 oz. of water and 1 Zico.

BeachBody Day62 – Active Rest

Today was a fairly easy day for me – an Active rest day. I usually do cross training for my cardio to give my knees a break from running. It depends on how I’m feeling and today my knees were a little achy so I decided to keep my workouts low impact. Started with Tone It Up’s Under the Sea workout – 10reps X3 sets. You’ll see me doing this one a lot during the Bikini Series :-)

I had another quiet morning to myself after dropping the boys off to school. Ben is still on his alternate work schedule while we wait for his medical to be cleared so he wasn’t home either.  The workout challenge for the Bikini Series today was to do the Bikini Strap workout from last year’s series :-) I was more than happy to do it because it is my favorite workout from last year.  I still do it a lot for bootycalls. I did 15reps X 3sets. I added a 6lb. medicine ball to the Thigh Slimming Squats for some resistance. I also used the medicine ball for the Waistline V-Sit Twists. I’ve improved since last year. I was able to keep my feet off the ground during the Upper Chest and Shoulder Press and during the V-Sit Twists :-) I also started the Ultimate Arm and Back Toner with 5 regular pushups. Doing regular pushups instead of modified ones really makes a difference! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do 10-15 all regular pushups one day :-) Then it was time for some Turbo Fire.

Turbo Fire Day 60 – It was HIIT15 and Tone 30 today.  I followed the low impact moves but  modified the tuck jumps. I wanted to push myself but take it easy on my knees at the same time. I did modified jacks the first set but realized that I could do regular jacks fine without my knees hurting too badly so I stuck with normal jacks for the rest of the workout.  I also modified the Star Jacks because those were harder on my knees. My favorite is the last combo – even modifying all the tuck jumps at the end got my heart racing. Tone30 was tough on my shoulders today – probably because they were already worked from the Bikini Strap workout.

For my afternoon workout I did the Bikini Series workout challenge from yesterday – the Drop10 Engine Revver.  This one would have been perfect to do on the treadmill but I went with the elliptical to keep it low impact.  I make sure that during the work interval – I’m working.  I used a different machine than I normally do because the one I like to use was already in use when I got to the gym… don’t you hate when that happens? lol.  I put the resistance and incline at 10 for the work and lowered them to 5 for the rest intervals. I was sweaty mess afterwards and loved it.

Only 2 more rounds to go! Snapped a pic during the Rest interval of the 7th round.

Engine Revver Done! 36 minutes w/ a 5min cool down.

Another reason I took it easy today is because I decided to do my first 10K with a friend of mine this weekend. I haven’t been specifically training for it because I’ve been so focused on Big Sur.  But I figure if I can run 9miles, I can run 6miles.  Since I did a super long run yesterday, I know that I have to give my legs and knees a break so I can do have a decent run on Sunday.

Did something different for my PlankADay. My TIU sister Emma (@Roxyfull) posted her plank routine for BeachBabe Abs on twitter: 1min plank, 1min tummy tuck alternating for 5 minutes. I consider myself a fairly fit person and I’ve done 5min planks alternating but usually with more than 2 positions. This routine sounded pretty good and I figured it’d be a great way to end my night.  I was not prepared to sweat as much as I did. Lol. My shoulders were killing me the whole time but I pushed through. Doing tummy tucks for a minute after holding plank for a minute – burns!! My whole body was shaking at the end. Thanks for a great ab workout Emma! I’m going to be doing it a lot :-)

New Plank routine from @Roxyfull (Emma) - It Burns!

Meals – Completely obsessed with mangos today :-)

M1: Egg white Scramble w/ spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms.

Egg White Scramble

M2: A whole mango :-) I was so excited that they were ripe and ready to eat.

I Love Mangos!

M3: Salad w/ left over Panko Chicken, spinach, cucumbers, carrots and tomatoes with a side of mango.  I only used part of the mango for the salad but I would have eaten another whole one :-)

A very yummy lunch - more mangos :-)

M4: Almond Coconut Kind bar and a Zico.

M5: Salmon Burger patty on top of Spinach, bell peppers, and mushrooms topped with fresh pineapple. This was sooooo good. Salmon and pineapple taste great together :-)

Amazing dinner! Pineapple on top was soooo good :-)

80 oz. of water, 1 Zico and 1c. of Green tea.
