Back to Normal

BeachBody Day77 & Day78

Saturday was Ben’s first day back to his normal work schedule :-) And now that Big Sur is done, I’m going back to my normal workout schedule this week. Took it easy because I was super tired. Ben has a rotating shift, his hours change daily so I have to work around his schedule to get my workouts in. It’s not ideal or perfect but I do what I gotta do. I’ve decided to change my long run day to Thursday because that’s when both boys are at school and I can train uninterrupted :-) I’ll be starting my half marathon this week and finishing up my Turbo Fire.

Workouts: Bootycall was Drop10 SculptingX3. This was a late bootycall since I slept in until 8a. I would have gotten up earlier to do a bike ride but my body was telling me it needed some rest so I listened :-)

For the next couple weeks, Saturday mornings will be dominated by the boy’s tball games. I didn’t get a chance to workout again until before dinner time.

Turbo Fire Day 75 – I used up a lot of energy doing HIIT25. I really really focused on getting my knees up for the tuck jumps. Those are so hard and there are so many in this one! lol. But I am getting better at them. Sculpt30 really works my arms out. My shoulders and biceps always burn with this workout.

Ended my day with a 3min plank alternating with low, side, and high.

Meals:

M1: Chobani Champions Very Berry with Chia seeds and almond butter.

M2: 5 dark choco almonds.

M3: Left overs pork/black beans/veggies wrapped in whole wheat tortilla. Plus 2 clementines.

Had two of these burritos :-)

The second one was a little bit bigger.

M4: Roasted Seaweed and half a mango.

M5: Quinoa, chicken, black beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, and bell peppers mixed together seasoned with sea salt and garlic. I am loving black beans right now :-)

Quiona and black beans is one of my favorites.

60 oz. water.

Sunday – Got to sleep in again. I’ve been feeling so tired lately. I think I’m catching whatever the boys have :-( Being congested makes it hard to sleep well. I still did a bootycall run. I had half a larabar before heading out and went on a different route. I don’t like to go this way too often because it’s on the streets but I did it for a change. I actually found a way to avoid the light I always get stopped and added a little bit of distance. Went 4 miles :-)

Turbo Fire Day 76 –  I did Fire30 for my afternoon workout. I’ve gotten so much better with the fire drills and doing the tuck jumps. I’m still not as good as the people on the DVD but I can get my knees up a lot higher :-) I’ve also gotten better with the kicks. I jumped in between all the high low combos. It never fails to get me sweating. Followed with Stretch 10.

The deal was that I’d take the boys to the pool after my Turbo Fire workout. They were very good and played in their room while I worked out so I took them to the pool so they could get their exercise in :-) I’m so glad that the weather is warmer now. We will be at the pool a lot from now on. I didn’t swim but I plan on incorporating swimming into my workouts soon.

Meals:

M1: Larabar.

M2: 2 Clementines.

M3: Quinoa/blakbean/ veggie mix lettuce wraps and Pop Chips.

Leftover lettuce wraps and pop chips.

M4: Tried a new Luna bar: Peanut Honey Pretzel. Found it at Target and had to try it out. I’m not a big peanut fan but I really liked this one. Definitely will be getting it again :-)

Another favorite added :-)

M5: Turkey meatballs and broccoli.

I actually had 5 meatballs but ate one before I took a pic :-P

60 oz. of water and 1 Zico.

In Love with Big Sur

BeachBody Day72 – Sunday – Big Sur International Marathon!!

Those that follow me on Twitter and Facebook know that Big Sur went well :-) I had a blast!! The weather was perfect and it was just an absolutely beautiful run. I was so happy to share the experience with my Aunt and Sister. We all did better than we had expected :-)

Our morning started early. My aunt’s 21miler had her up at 3a :-/ We did not envy her. She said that she didn’t sleep for more than a couple hours because she was nervous. And despite that she still beat her training time and came in under 4 hours! Way to go Aunt San!! My sister’s 5K and my 9miler started at the same time. We were up at 5a.  We got dressed and packed up because my aunt had already checked us out when she left for her race. At first I thought her race would start before mine. We were happy to be able to start together. My sister ran her whole 5K – which she hadn’t planned on doing because of her hip – and beat her expected time too. I am so proud of both of them.

I was separated from my sister early on. I tend to get very focused and just run.  Our courses split after a run on a trail by the water. It was just so beautiful. I wish I could have stopped to take pictures and just take it all in, but I had to keep running. It was 50 degrees and overcast when we started. I really couldn’t have asked for better weather. It’s what I’m use to running in. What I wasn’t use to were the hills :-/ I knew that there would be some hills, but I wasn’t expecting it to be hill after hill. lol. Not that they were all big hills, but it there wasn’t all that much flat areas. It would level off and then I was going either up or down again. I could definitely feel my booty getting worked! I didn’t run with music because I wanted to enjoy the course.  There was plenty of entertainment.  There was a Samba band, a flute player, a guy playing the bag pips, a band singing, and people cheering you on all through out the course. It also helped that there was just beautiful scenery throughout the course. The beginning took us through a really nice neighborhood in Carmel. I would love to live in one of those houses. There were several ocean views and the run through the park was wonderful. It felt like I was running through my grandfather’s property.

I had my phone in my belt so I didn’t see what my time or pace was. I had no concept of how time at all. There were only a couple mile markers that I could see.  The 1 mile point and the 25mile marker which marked the last mile for all the courses. I felt like I was running slower because of the hills and that I was getting passed up. When I could feel it in my legs I was hoping that I was getting close to the end.  During training, it was the last couple miles that my legs would start to feel tired and my knees got achy. This time, I could feel my booty and my calves too.  I loved that there were people all throughout the last half mile cheering you on. It was so cute to see the little kids cheering.  They also had cardboard cut outs that were funny.

I could hear the announcer as I got closer to the finish line. I used everything I had left to go faster at the end. I almost couldn’t believe that I was done when I crossed the finish line. It didn’t feel like I had been running for over an hour.  A girl came up to me and handed me a finisher medal and I wound up posing for photo. I was directed towards the tents and told to grab a brown paper bag and go. I took half a blueberry muffin that was offered to me and called my sister to find out where she was. She wasn’t expecting me for a while so she was a little shocked when I called her. We stretched out and went to starbucks for coffee and tea. We had a couple hours before my Aunt was expected to finish her race so we walked around the Finisher’s Village. There were tents for the special groups and sponsors. You couldn’t miss the Michelobe Ultra tent if you tried. lol.

We decided to go to finish line and watch the racers come in. I was very inspired by the marathoners crossing the finish line. Many had big smiles on their faces as they crossed that finish line. I loved how many of the spectators cheered all of the runners on at the end. There was just so much positive energy and excitement. I was impressed by those that did the Boston to Big Sur. I really can’t imagine running one marathon and then running a second one only 13 days later :-/ We were trying to catch our Aunt coming across the finish line. We watched for two hours and then we started to think we must have missed her. My sister got a call from a local number it was my Aunt calling from someone’s phone. She had finished an hour earlier. lol. We met her at the Info booth. Obviously we didn’t have a post race meet up plan set up. We asked a volunteer to take a picture of us then headed out to lunch. I was starving! I decided to have 1 slice of pesto pizza as a treat. Then it was time to drive home. I had to fight falling asleep O_o I was sooo tired all the way home.

Turbo Fire Day 70 – I did not get a chance to rest once I did get home. Ben went to run some errands which meant I had the boys to take care of and it was almost dinner time. I forced myself to do my Turbo Fire workout for the day. I kept it low impact on the fire drills for Fire30 but I gave the workout everything I had left. Stretch10 was great. My sore muscles enjoyed the extended stretch.

I have to Thank my boys for being extremely good that night.  They saw that I was extremely tired and didn’t make things hard for me. They ate their dinner and went to bed without any trouble.  They also gave me Big Hugs to make me feel better :-)

I know that I didn’t have to do a plank for the night, but I told myself that I could do anything for 1min so I did a one minute plank on my elbows :-)

Meals –

M1: Whole Wheat Bagel Thin w/ Almond Butter and a banana. Zico to drink.

Carried a 20 oz. bottle with Zico for my run. Stopped at the last 2 aid stations for water.

M2: Half of a blueberry muffin and Starbucks Iced Green Tea/ Luna bar and Chocolate Zico.

M3: 1 Slice of Pest Pizza from Pizza My Heart and a Chicken Walnut Salad.

Chicken Walnut Salad w/ Balsamic Vinegar Dressing

My slice of pesto pizza :-)

M4: Almond Coconut Kind bar – on the ride home.

M5: Quinoa w/ turkey spinach red sauce.

Love quinoa and red sauce.

60 oz. water and 3 Zicos.

First 10K!

BeachBody Day65

I signed up for the Capital City Classic 10K last minute.  My friend Malissa was doing it so I decided to do it with her.  I didn’t really train for it.  I’ve been focusing on my Big Sur training, but since I’ve been doing 9 mile runs, I figured that I could do 6 miles. I didn’t think I was all that nervous but I guess I was because I really didn’t sleep well the night before. It was also a very hot night. Despite that, I didn’t feel tired when I got up at 5a.  We were staying at Ben’s mom’s house which was an hour away from where the race was being held. I got dressed and went down stairs to eat. I couldn’t have my usual whole wheat bagel, almond butter, and banana.  Ben’s mom had whole grain bread, some peanut butter and strawberries.  Hydrated with Zico.

There was also a kids race that the boys could do. I didn’t sign them up before hand because I knew that there was a good chance that they would not want to do it.  I was impressed that Gio got up at 5a and still wanted to go. Seppe on the other hand decided to stay with grandma and get some more sleep. Ben got up with us and did the driving. We didn’t leave until 6:15 but the way he drove, it only took 45min to get there. lol.

I picked up my bib and shirt then registered Gio for his race. He was very happy to get a shirt and a bib. There was a kid’s play area with a bounce house and slide that Gio played on while we waited for my friend to get there. I used the restroom and put on my race shirt. I was wearing my Tone It Up tank. I’d love to run with it, but I didn’t want to stick the pins in it so I threw the Tech shirt on top – in hindsight I should have taken the tank off because it was sooo hot! I had wanted to have my belt pack and phone with me, but since I forgot my belt, I couldn’t bring my phone on my run :-( I like to have my phone on me to map the route and I wanted to log the race into to my Nike+ app. Oh well – it was a naked run for me.

Before the Race Not even 8a and it was already really bright and sunny!

The one thing that I really didn’t like about the race was that it started Both the 5K and 10K at the same time – without any way of organizing those who were walking or running.  There were A lot of kids there. It looked like a bunch of schools got groups together to do the 5k run/walk.  Nothing stopped them from going to the front of the line.  I knew that none of them were going to be running fast enough. As soon as the announcer counted down and the crowd moved, it was task to weave through the kids.  A bunch just stopped running right in front of us. grrrr!!!

At 8a it was already hot. I wasn’t really prepared for the heat. I’m a little spoiled with the Bay Area weather. I usually always get a nice cool breeze during my runs and it’s never 80 degrees by 8a :-/ I had planned on also brining my water bottle, but that got forgotten as well – what happens when I’m in a rush. I stopped at all 3 aid stations. At the first one, I was handed some gatorade and tried to drink it while I jogged – FAIL!!! I spilled it all over me so I was sticky as well as sweaty.  I slowed down and walked while I drank water at the other 2 stations.

It was a nice run – very scenic. We ran by the Sacramento River and over the Tower Bridge. That was kind of cool because I’ve only ever driven over it. I welcomed every stretch of shade and dreaded all the open stretches in the blazing sun. There were even a few hills that were not fun but the few incline runs I did helped out. It was a lot less crowded once we separated from the 5k runners. Once we got to Old Sac, we were mixed back in with them.  It was hard to weave through them because so many were walking. The last stretch had a hill  thatI thought was just cruel. lol. I tried to sprint at the end but had to slow down several times because there were so many people walking in front of me.  I almost ran right into a spectator crossing the street.

Hydrating with Zico at the Finish line.

My Stats! I'm Number 6 :-)

But despite all that, I was able to beat my training time by 4 minutes!! My time 50:07. Not too bad, but I wasn’t thrilled about it. I think I could have done even better if I was able sprint as fast as I wanted to at the end. I’m pretty hard on myself. Ben said he was looking for me to take a picture but I ran right by him and he didn’t even realize it. lol. The heat really got to me because as soon as I stopped running, my head started hurting.  I went straight to the Zico station to get some coconut water. I was thrilled that they were there. I love Zico!!! Ben handed me a Dark Chocolate and Cherry Kind bar and I ate that. I waited for my friend at the finish line and then we both went to Zico station and I  grabbed another one.

My friend Malissa at the finish line. She did a Great job :-)

Me and Malissa After the race - Yep that's a second Zico for me :-)

Snack Table - fruit, mini power bars, and bagels.

Zico Station. They worked hard to keep us hydrated :-)

Pop Chips Tent - We went back 3 times :-)

She grabbed some of the snacks that were there for us. I skipped it and went to the PopChips tent and picked up some Sweet Potato and Parmesan Garlic. Yum!  Then we waited for Gio’s race to start. He kept asking what time it was every minute. lol. He did not want to miss his race.  There were 3 races – 1mile, 1/2mile, and 1/4mile. At first he was lined up for the mile,  but got scared and decided to wait for the 1/2 mile. He was being very shy and did not want to be left alone at the start line. In the end, I had to run his race with him. He wanted me to hold his hand but I told him that I wouldn’t run with him if I had to hold his hand.

Me and my little runner before his race.

At the start line. It was really hot by the time his race started.

He sprinted away from me so fast I wasn’t expecting it. I had to sprint to catch up to him.  It didn’t take long for him to slow down though. lol.  “Half a mile is hard,” is what he said to me while we ran.  He wanted to stop but I told him all he had to do was slow down.  He walked for a few seconds then started jogging again.  He did pretty good staying at a jogging pace. I told him that once we reached the corner that we would sprint and he did. I raced him to the finish line :-) He was very happy to get a ribbon. I was very proud of him. He wants to race again :-)

So proud of his ribbon for doing the 1/2 mile.

Our Cheerleader and Chauffeur. So happy he was there to support me :-)

All in all a good experience.  My headache lasted most of the day though – even after taking a couple excedrin.  After the race, we went back to his mom’s and had some lunch.  It was such a hot day so the boys spent the day in the pool. After eating, I laid down for a nap. It was really hot so I didn’t sleep well, but I got enough to make my headache go away.

Turbo Fire Day65 – When I woke up, I had some fruit for a snack and then did my Fire30/Stretch10 workout. The boys were still in the pool so I as able to workout without any interruption. I was able to go all out on the Fire Drills.  Since it was so hot, I was dripping with sweat the whole time.

Ready to sweat!

After having dinner it was time to drive home.  After putting the boys to bed I did a 3 min plank with 1 min of tummy tucks before going to bed. I was very happy to be back home with wind and cooler weather.

Meals:

M1: Whole Grain toast w/ peanut butter and 3 strawberries. Zico to drink.

M2: post run – Dark Choc Cherry Kind Bar and 2 Zicos and 1 bag of sweet potato PopChips

M3: Chicken w/ brown rice.

M4: Strawberries.

M5: Chicken salad with pineapple and avocado.

BBQ chicken with lots of fresh pineapple, avocado, and lettuce. No dressing needed.

60 oz. of water and 3 Zicos.

You can also still sign up for Self Magazine’s Drop10 Challenge

BeachBody Day56 – Hydrated!

It’s been really hard for me to get back on track with drinking enough water.  I’ve fallen back into my bad habit :-( So I made it a point to stay hydrated today.  I was doing pretty well, up until we made a quick trip out to the city.  I think I hesitate to drink while in the car because I know that I will have to go to the bathroom. lol. But I got back on track once we got home :-)

Plateau Buster on the Treadmill

Started Friday the 13th of with Tone It Up’s Self Magazine Drop10 Plateau Buster HIIT workout.  This was a long one.  Decided to do it on the treadmill since the intervals were longer.  I set the incline to 2. My work speed was 7.5mph and my rest speed was 6- 6.5mph. It worked up a good sweat :-)

All Sweaty!

Turbo Fire Day 54 – After Seppe’s speech therapy class, it was time for Fire30 and Stretch10. I think I have this one almost memorized. It was nice to have a couple fire drills again. I got Gio to join me for the Stretch10 part.  It was funny to watch him copy the moves. Some of them he did really well and others he needs some more practice on :-)

I was actually pretty wiped out after those two workouts. Even though I didn’t want to, I did my PlankADay.  I decided to do a 2min PlankADay.

Meals-

M1: Soy Protein Banana/Chocolate Chunk muffin from TraderJoe’s. I really like having these for a quick on the go breakfast.  I had it before I went down to the gym so I’d have a little fuel for the HIIT workout.

M2: Luna bar and chocolate Zico. There is just something about Luna bars and Zico that just works perfectly together :-)

M3: Shakeology shake w/ unsweetened vanilla almond milk, spinach, and half a banana.

M4: Almond coconut Kind bar.

M5: Teriyaki Salmon and Broccoli.

80 oz. of water, 1 Zico, and 1c. of decaf green tea.

BeachBody Challenge Day48

Despite a rough emotional night, I got up at 6a and did Tone It Up’s Self Magazine Drop10 Toning workout and Mad Abs March Day22. The 35 pushups were extremely hard. I think it’s because I did Day21 last night instead of yesterday in the morning. My arms were still fired from the 34 pushups.

Turbo Fire Day 46 – I think I’m doing better with the bicep curls in Tone30. I think I’d do better with weights than the band especially since it’s only 1 set of 12 followed with a set of 8. I think the band is working though. I guess I just want to see faster results. lol. I think I’ve got Fire30 down! Had so much fun today. I always have fun with the Fire workouts.  It’s dancing and kickboxing mixed together with HIIT to great music.  I really wish I had someone to do it with.

I kind of swapped my days on my Drop10 Challenge.  Today was suppose to be a Rest day but since all I did was run yesterday, I counted that as my Rest Day.  I wanted to do the second HIIT workout, but just didn’t have time. I’m glad though because my knees and legs are still tight from yesterday’s long run.  I did do the Toning workout earlier and Tomorrow’s schedule is the second HIIT so I will definitely be doing it :-)

Ben wanted to brush up on his basketball skills before playing with his coworkers tonight, so we went to the park and played a couple games of 21. Let’s just say that I have a slight Disadvantage with Ben being a whole foot taller than me :-/ Lol. He was nice enough not to just stand by the net and score off my many missed free throws. I did score some points by taking advantage of his missed shots thought :-) It was a lot of fun. We went back to the park with the boys but I did an NTC workout (Fighter Fit) while he played with Gio.  I chose one that didn’t require any equipment and it was really nice to workout outdoors.

I didn’t want to do my Plank for today.  I had already done one during the MadAbs workout and during the NTC workout.  But I made myself do a 5 min plank to end my night. For the last minute I did hip dips and tried a move Chalene Johnson posted.

“Start on your elbow in plank. Slowly rotate and drop your left hip allow the right foot to lift and hips to stack. Alternate slowly dropping, rotating to tap each hip."

Meals:

M1: Mutligrain Raisin Oatmeal w/ cocoa almond butter, blueberries, and chia seeds.

M2: Fruit Salad w/ handful of almonds.

Fruit for a big salad I made for Gio - and me :-)

Added a handful of almonds for some protein.

M3: Salmon, brown rice, spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms.

Salmon Rice bowl topped with avocado.

M4: Larabar

M5: Salmon, broccoli, and asparagus.

60 oz. of water and 1 Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day46

I forced myself out of bed at 6a today. I think my main problem is that I stay up way too late. Lol. Gotta make an effort to get to bed earlier so I have the energy to do my workouts and deal with Life.  Started with Day20 of MadAbs March. 32 Pushups!! It’s slow going once I hit 20, but I manage to do it all on my feet :-) Did Tone It UP’s SelfMagazine Drop10 Toning workout – used 6lb. medicine ball again for Side Slimmer and Kick Outs. The Total Transformer Move was really hard on my knees this morning so after the first set, I modified it by bending my knees and doing one leg at a time.

After dropping the boys off at school and doing some grocery shopping, it was time for Turbo Fire.

Restocked my Fruit Bowl

Turbo Fire Day44 – Started with Sculpt30. I really focus on making the bands tighter for the bicep curls. I want to have some guns :-) Lol. Mini ones at least. Did some more pushups on my feet for this workout.  After doing 32, a set of 4 and a set of 8 wasn’t too bad. The tricep exercises were tough today because my arms were sore from doing the Drop10 workout.  I went all out for Fire30.  Did all the jumps and turns.  I Punched and Kicked hard. Having so much fun now that I know all the moves.

Before dinner I hit the gym to do Tone It Up’s Max Burn Pyramid X2. For the 5 minute runs, I did it an incline of 5 – to get some hill training in. I was drenched with sweat at the end. I’ve been wanting to do this workout since it was posted. I love it.

Total Miles doing Max Burn Pyramid

Counting the Side Planks from this mornings’ Mad Abs Day20 and the two planks for the MaxBurn Pyramid as part of my plankaday. I’m just way too tired to do a separate on tonight. I’ll make sure to do a long one tomorrow.

Meals – Fuel up day for my long run tomorrow so a little more carbs.

M1: Chobani Champions Chocolate Chunk w/ almond butter and chia seeds.

M2: Half a banana that Gio didn’t want to eat for breakfast, a small pear and 6 dark chocolate almonds.

Fruit, Nuts and Chocolate :-)

M3: Left over Seafood, Veggies, Quinoa, and Black Bean Collard Wrap w/ frozen grapes. Seppe ate half the grapes – looks like someone else has realized how yummy frozen grapes are :-)

Collard Wrap with Grapes

M4: Almond Coconute Kind Bar

M5: Whole Wheat past with ground turkey and spinach red sauce.

Whole Wheat pasta to carb up for tomorrow's long run.

80 oz. of water and a Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day41

Another rainy day. I decided to stay inside today for my workouts.  It took me a long time to warm up after my wet run yesterday. Plus, my knees needed a break.  They didn’t feel as stiff as they use to today, but I don’t want to push them too much because I don’t want to get hurt before my Big Sur race next month. I got up and started with Day 15 of the Mad Abs March Challenge.  I made it through the 25 pushups! That’s the most I’ve done in a Long time – I think I was able to do 30 something in high school but I was super tiny then. Then it was more abs with NTC’s Jenette Jenkin’s Ab Blast workout. This is a killer workout. I am not great at all the moves, but I do my best. I figure the more I try it, the better I’ll get. I modified the Forearm Plank Balances by doing it on my knees. I just collapsed trying to stay in plank. lol. The Scissor Kicks with Extended Arms was the most difficult one for me.

New M100 Best Time

After dropping the boys off at school, it was time to do some grocery shopping. I like to do this when I don’t have the boys so I can go faster. Plus it’s not as busy in the mornings and I can get in and out. I didn’t have much time before picking Seppe up to do what I wanted so I did a set of M100’s and beat my last time by 6 seconds :-) I didn’t take any breaks this time around. My heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest at the end. I did another NTC workout – Muscle Definer.  I reached 1125 min! I’m looking forward to getting to 1500 minutes and unlocking a 45min Jenette Jenkins workout!

Turbo Fire Day 39

Today was Tone30 and Fire30. I made the resistance harder today. I really wanted to work my arms during the arm exercises. I’m wondering if I can use weights instead of resistance bands…. I don’t mind the band but I like to work with weights for strength training.  I had a lot of fun with Fire30 today – not that I haven’t before but since I’m doing it more often during the cardio month, I’ve really gotten the routine down.  I can focus on getting really intense with the moves. I’ve finally got the High Low Round House move down.  For some reason I would get thrown off with that move. Now instead of figuring out when to kick, I just kick!

Ended my night with a 5 min plank.

1 min hands, 1 min side plank *each side, 1 min hands, 1 min forearms

Meals –

M1: This rainy weather makes me want something warm in the morning  so it was Raisin Spice Oatmeal with Unsweetened Almond Milk, Raw Almond Butter, Banana and Chia seeds.

Warm Breakfast

M2: Chobani Champions Vanilla Chocolate Chunk – decided just to have it plain today.

M3: Left over Panko Rainbow Trout with Spinach, Cucumber and Tomato Salad w/ Balsamic Vinegar for dressing.

Fish and Salad

M4: Chunky Olive Hummus and Baby Carrots.

My Favorite Hummus: Chunky Olive

M5: Salmon with Balsamic/Honey Sauce (from FitFoodJunkie) and Asparagus

Mixing up my Balsamic Vinegar and Honey

Salmon and Asparagus

100 oz. of water.

BeachBody Challenge Day39

The downfall of Day Light Savings is that now it’s dark again at 6a. I know that in a little while it will get light earlier again, but I was enjoying my quiet early morning walks. Not that I could have done it today.  It was pouring rain this morning – and All day long. It’s suppose to rain All Week :-( Pair that with my period and you get one very tired girl.  It’s just something about rainy weather that makes me just want to stay in bed all day. Instead, I got up at 6:30a and worked out. Started with Day13 of Mad Abs March Challenge. I like to to do this first before I wear my arms out. I am still doing regular pushups and today was 21. It was really tough, but I did it. I followed it with Tone It Up and Miya’s Beach workout. I used 5 lb weights and did 20 reps each X 3 sets.

Tuesday is officially my favorite day of the week now.  It is the 1 day I get 4 hours of “Me” time :-) And I LOVE it! I am always thinking about what to do next for Ben, Gio, and Seppe. It’s constant and many times thankless job. I don’t always realize how much it takes out of me to Give so much of myself. It was very nice to have some time where I didn’t have anyone else to worry about, but Me.  I took advantage and relaxed for an hour.

Then it was time to get my sweat on! I decided to do TIU’s Lean Abs, Arms, and Legs Pyramids.  I used 5 lb. weights for the curls and also used them for the squats and lunges.  I did 30 lunges each leg. I went straight to the gym to do the Short and Sweet Shredmill. I thought that it would be easier this time around, but no. I was huffing and puffing like last time.  Adding an incline really makes a difference. I think I was able to go faster but it was tough. I was drenched with sweat and breathing heavy when it was all done.  I will be doing this one often to help train for running on hills. It’s pretty flat where I live so this incline HIIT is great for me.

Short and Sweet Shredmill. Warmup was at 6.5mph, Intervals were between 7mph - 8mph and Cool Down was at 6mph

Turbo Fire Day 37

Strength Training with Sculpt30

I was trying to do this before Gio got home, but no luck.  The boys did really well and played in their room while I did my Turbo Fire workout. I started with Sculpt30. After the pushups and Lean Arms Pyramid, my arms were already worn out.  The arm exercises were killer for me today. I did do the pushups on my feet and with the resistance band this time.  I had to go to my knees for the tricep pushup though. I also really felt all the squats and lunges because my legs were so worn out from the Shredmill earlier.

So Much Fun!

Fire30 was a little tougher today too, but I still did pretty well.  I love the second combo in this one. I think the Fire Throw is one of my favorite moves.  I went for the jumps and star jacks in the fire drill. The jump during the high low combo in this one I didn’t do because it just throws me off for some reason. It’s hard to Not have fun doing a TurboFire workout :-) The music is great and Chalene is always so motivating and full of energy.

I wanted to try out Tone It Up’s New Max Burn workout but ran out of time. I’m might give it a try tomorrow after my long run, but we’ll see how I’m feeling. I’m going  for 8 miles tomorrow – rain and all :-) If I don’t get to the new workout tomorrow,  I will definitely do it on Thursday. Ended with a 2 min plank.

Haven't done a straight plank in a while so I decided to do one tonight all on my forearms.

Meals – Ate a little bigger portion sizes and had some more carbs to help fuel up for tomorrow’s long run.

M1: Chobani Champions Vanilla Chocolate Chunk with Almond butter and chia seeds.

M2: TIU sister Kari posted a pic of her fruit salad with strawberries, apples, and oranges and it looked so yummy that I had to make the one too :-) Also added a few almonds on the side.

Fruit and Nuts

M3:  Salad with left over panko chicken, spinach, carrots, cucumbers and an orange. I love adding fruit to salads :-) Also had some Snapea Crisps on the side.

Green and Orange Salad

M4: Almond Coconut Kind Bar.

M5: Broiled Panko Rainbow Trout with Brown Rice and Broccoli.  I usually go for pasta but I haven’t had rice in a while and I missed it.

Fish and Rice :-)

80 oz. water and 1 Zico

BeachBody Challenge Day 34

I really need to get to bed earlier. I finished one of the boys’ videos last night. Finding and adding music takes me the longest. Despite how tired I was, I got up and got dressed.  I love that the sun is out bright and early now :-) Now, even though I am tired, I can get up and at least go for a nice 30 minute walk.  If I hadn’t been so tired, I probably could have gone for a run. My knees were still pretty stiff from my long run yesterday. I think that it will just get worse as my runs get longer so I wanted to get into the habit of going low impact the day after.

Sunrise Walk on the peninsula

The sun was just coming up when I went out.  It was a really nice morning and I could tell that it was going to be a beautiful day.  It was nice that the wind had died down a bit too. It was cool but I warmed up as I walked. I don’t take an easy stroll when I walk. I walk as fast as I can without going into a run :-) Low impact but lots of intensity!

I meant to do a workout right after dropping the boys off at school, but I got started on Seppe’s tball game :-/ I got a lot done by the time Ben got up. Finally got Ben to go to the gym with me :-) Well – I went with him.  He is really trying to get back into working out and I thought that if I went with him, it would help. I’ve stayed away from the gym – except for speed training – now that the weather has been so nice because I love running outside. And today was a big reason why I don’t hit the gym often.

Rockin my Tone It Up tank to the gym. Forgive the crazy lady appearance :-)

When we got there, a lady was on the bike talking on her phone. It is my biggest pet peeve! Why even sit on the machine when you’re obviously not getting a workout while you’re sitting there casually pedaling and talking up a storm – and talking loudly.  Ben got on an elliptical. An older lady was on the one working treadmill, so I decided to warm up on the other elliptical.  I decided to do Tone It Up’s Max Burn workout (minus the Itty Bitty workout at the end).  I figured the lady on the bike would be getting off her phone soon since I had no idea how long she was there before us. I finished my warmup, went through the first set of of exercises and lucked out! The older lady finished on the treadmill so I was able to hop on for the 5 min jog interval. I kept my pace easy for my knees. Lady on the bike was talking even louder. Second set of exercises and she was still talking. 2nd 5 min jog, she moved next to me and now I could hear her even over my headphones which I had up pretty loud. ugh! Thankfully Ben told her to quiet down because he was super annoyed. She just plugged in her headset and continued to talk. SMH. I finished up and did Day 8 of the MadAbs March challenge while I waited for Ben to finish. We were going to lift some weights but the lady was still on her phone talking so we left.  Our gym is small so there wasn’t any place we could really go to get far away enough to Not hear her.  Ok enough about that annoying bitch. lol.

Turbo Fire Day 32

I decided to be nice and let Ben have the tv for his video game. I used my laptop to do my workout. I started with Tone30. This one is killer on my arms.  I’m still getting use to the resistance band.  I kind of want to use weights instead, but I’ll stick with the band. Fire30 was also on the schedule for today.  Definitely did better on it today.  I kept it low impact so no jumps or tucks. I did do the sumo burpee  though. My favorite is the second combo. I can really get into that one.

Ended with a 5 min plank.

1 min on hands, 1 min side plank (30 second side dips) each side, 1 min hands (30 sec tummy tucks), 1 min elbows (30 second hip dips)

Meals:

M1: Chobani Champions with raw almond butter and chia seeds.

I try to get every last bit of yogurt :-)

M2: Chocolate Peanut Butter Shakeology. I usually use almond butter but I decided to change it up and use peanut butter.

M3: I bought some collard greens on yesterday so I could try out collard wraps like the one in Tone It Up Nutrition Plan :-) I’ve never had collard greens before and I was a little worried about the taste. I told myself that I’ll never know unless I try it so I bought it. I took my left over quinoa mix and wrapped it in a leaf. I made two because even though the leave were big, I didn’t a lot of filling in so it would wrap. I really like collard greens and I want to try cooking it :-)

Collard Greens

Left over quinoa, chicken, mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, and squash mix.

Quinoa mix Collar Wrap

M4: Lara bar.

M5: I made burritos for the boys. Kept it simple for the kids – a little refried beans, ground turkey and cheese. For Ben, I added guacamole and plain Chobani yogurt. I was hoping that it would be a good enough substitute for sour cream for Ben. He can be quite picky so I was glad that he liked it with the greek yogurt. I used whole wheat tortillas. For me, I made salad using the ground turkey I made for boys, red kidney beans, and tomato avocado salsa on top of spinach. I added a bit of plain greek yogurt on top.

My No Taco Salad :-)

Topped with Plain Chobani Greek Yogurt - just as good as sour cream :-)

I wanted to something sweet so I decided to have 5 strawberries.

90 oz. of water. 1 Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day32

I tried my hardest to get up for a bootycall workout this morning. For some reason it was super hot in our room last night and I couldn’t get comfortable. I tossed and turned a lot. When the alarm went off, I felt like I hadn’t gotten any sleep at all.  I did get up but everything was in slow motion. Plus, I was sore from my workouts yesterday. I did do Day6 of the the Mad Abs March challenge. Even though I was tired, I did 13 regular pushups. And that was all I could get myself to do.  I figured I needed the energy I had to get the boys ready and off to school.

I had planned on taking a nap when I got back from being a chauffeur, but when I got home I realized that there was a lot to do. I started the first load of the boys’ laundry. I did the dishes and then sat down to pay the bills. After that, I had to rest for a little bit. Instead of a nice 2 hour nap, I got 30 minutes. Even though it was tough, I made myself get up and do a workout. Tuesdays are the only days I get the house all to myself for a few hours so I like to take advantage of it. I needed to make up for not doing my bootycall workout the way I should have. So I did a set of M100’s as fast as I could. Beat my last time by almost a whole minute :-) That got me warmed up so I decided to do a NTC workout focusing on the back muscles.  I realized I don’t work my back that much and I need to incorporate more exercises that do. Shaped Back is only 15min but like every other NTC workout I do, it makes me sweat.  I still had time before having to pick Seppe up so I went for another NTC workout. I had unlocked Lea Michele’s Triple Threat workout yesterday and couldn’t wait to try it. I was little worn out yesterday so I went for it today.  There are no weights in this 15 min workout but OMG! it is tough. It probably didn’t help that I was a little tired from the back workout but still, this is a great Total Body workout.  It’s a new favorite and I know I will be feeling it tomorrow :-)

New M100 Best Time

Turbo Fire Day 30

I wanted to do my Turbo Fire workout before Gio came home, but I got started on creating and editing one of the boys’ tball games, and got carried away. I had forgotten how much time it takes to make these videos and it doesn’t help that I’m a perfectionist so everything has to be my idea of perfect before I consider it done. Lol.  Gio is actually very good at allowing me to do my workout after I’ve helped him with homework.  Honestly, I think it just allows him an hour away from mom watching everything he does :-)

No mismatches between the class schedule and the SuperGym today. It was Fire30 and Sculpt30 for me. I started with Scukpt30. I try to make the resistance harder every time I do this – especially with the bicep exercises. I still feel so wimpy with my arms but I’m working on it.  I also used the resistance band during the first set pushups this time too.  The fact that I could do a pushup with the band just shows me that I’m improving.  I hadn’t done Fire30 in a while so I kinda forgot what it was like but I still just went straight to class. It didn’t take me long to catch on since I know all the moves. I only fell behind a couple times. I was able to increase the intensity by really focusing on my punches and dropping down lower with my legs. This time I did the squat jumps, tuck jumps, star jacks, and the sumo burpee during the fire drills :-)  The only time I don’t jump is with high low punches. For some reason it throws me off but I’ll work on it because it definitely looks neat when they do it.

I think that’s pretty good for today. I am still going to do my PlankADay. I have the @PlankPolice on twitter calling me out because I don’t tweet my planks that much anymore. lol. I’ve really made it  a point to doing at least a 2 minute plank every day.  It’s a simple but effective exercise that doesn’t take long to do and you work so many muscles all at once – especially your core :-)

Meals:

M1:  Chocoloate Shakeology with blueberries and spinach.

Added blueberries and spinach.

M2: frozen grapes and 6 dark chocolate almonds. Can you tell that I have a sweet tooth? lol.

I was craving sweets so I went for fruit and dark chocolate almonds.

M3: Kashi Mediterranean pizza.  This is the only pizza I really ever eat these days.  They taste great and is pretty healthy too :-) Today is my carb up day for my long run tomorrow – going for 7.5 miles (eeeeks!) Seppe loves these too but his favorite is the Margherita one.

My Favorite :-)

M4: Almond coconut Kind bar.

M5: Left over whole wheat pasta with white sauce and chicken. I made the white sauce from scratch using almond milk and organic parmesan cheese. I added some peas and corn. I also used my new favorite sauce (balsamic/honey) and roasted some zucchini, squash and bell peppers. I have to say that the roasted veggies were the best part :-) Make sure to check out FitFoodJunkie.com for the recipe.

All Homemade.

100 oz. of water. I’ve been really thirsty lately. I feel great when I’m drinking enough water :-)
