BeachBody Challenge Day25

I was so tired last night that I actually listened to Ben and took a break from blogging. lol. I went to bed at 9:30p – and that is Super early for me. It felt great to get some Good sleep – more than my usual 5 maybe 6 hours. Yesterday was a great day though.

I was determined to get up for my bootycall workout. I really need to get back to doing these regularly. I decided to do Tone It Up’s Bikini Blast Circuit – 20 reps each X 3 sets. I followed it with a 2 minute plank. It maybe hard for me to roll out of bed and to do a workout but it totally wakes me up once I’m done :-) I got dressed and made Gio’s lunch all before having to wake the boys up. It felt great to be on top of things.

I went grocery shopping after dropping the boys off at school. I really think that grocery shopping should be considered exercise. lol. At least the part where I have to carry All the bags from my car and inside. I had 8 bags and it took me 2 trips to get it all upstairs. I was a little worn out from it, but I decided to get a workout in before having to pick up Seppe. I hadn’t lifted weights in a while so I did the Spartacus Workout.  I used 25lbs for the Goblet Squat, 15lbs for everything else except for the T-Pushups and Plank Rows where I used  5 lbs. I had just enough time to get in a round of M100’s. I timed myself to see how long it takes me and hopefully I can get faster :-)

—————————– Turbo Fire Day 23 ———————————

I wanted to do my Turbo Fire workout before picking Gio up from school so I did it after lunch.  On the schedule was HIIT20 and Stretch10.  I guess it had been a little while since I’ve done this one because I didn’t remember it. Lol. It felt like a new workout.  I attempted all the tuck jumps.  I liked that we did every drill Twice – and the last one 3 times.  It gave me a chance to do better because I was always behind a little the first time through. Hopefully I’ll remember more the next time so I can just focus on giving it everything I’ve got.  Definitely needed the Stretch10 afterwards.

I probably should have stopped after Turbo Fire.  It was a pretty intense workout. But there was a new Tone It Up Shredmill that I couldn’t resist trying. It was short one – 20 min so I did it before making dinner.  I’ve done most of Tone It Up’s Shredmill’s and their first one is one of my favorites.  I use it for my speed training. I figured I was pretty prepared for this new one…. But I was wrong.

Tone It Up's New Shredmill

I do Treadmill HIIT’s without much of an incline to save my knees.  This new one had inclines! Sprinting for 15 seconds on an incline was super tough. I really wanted to stop after the second round. I was breathing hard but I told myself that it was for only 10 minutes. The cool down at an even higher incline was intense! I was at 6mph but I wound up lowering to 5mph because I just couldn’t keep up. Yeah I got my butt kicked! Since this one is so tough, it will definitely be one I keep on doing. Plus I think it just gave me a good way to train for hills :-) I’m glad it’s  a short one though because I don’t think my knees would be too happy if I tortured them for too long.

How I Did with the New Shredmill - Going to Keep Working on it :-)

That Shredmill took the very last bit of energy I had. I was completely exhausted at the end of it. I have no idea how I made up 4 flights of stairs to my apartment. I could have gone straight to bed as soon as I got home. Originally I had planned on doing another plank, but I decided I had done enough for the day. My body needed to rest up for my long run tomorrow.

Meals:

M1: Chobani Strawberry with Raw Almond Butter and Granola

M2: 1/2 a Luna bar that Seppe didn’t want to finish, a slice of TraderJoe’s Zucchini Loaf and a bowl of grapes. I need to start makingzucchini bread from scratch again. I use to make it all the time when I was younger. This one from TraderJoe’s is pretty good. Gotta keep it to 1 serving though.

Meal 2 - I was hungry :-)

M3: Panko Tilapia Salad

Lunch - Panko Tilapia Spinach, carrots, tomatoes, avocado, and cucumber salad

M4: Snapea Crisps, pear, and homemade trailmix

M5: Quinoa pasta with Veggie sauce made from scratch – 3 roma tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and mushrooms.

Quinoa pasta with tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and mushrooms

Dessert – 4 dark chocolate almonds

60 oz. of water and a Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day23

Gotta say that today was much better than yesterday :-)  I was very happy Not to hear my alarm at 4a And Yes! I took advantage and slept in.  It felt amazing. When I got up I was ready to have a great day. Since I had slept in, I decided to have something small to eat before going for my run.  I’m usually fine running on an empty stomach but I’ve found that I do better (and feel better) if I have something small when I get up late.

It was a windy and overcast day – typical bay area weather. We took the boys to the park to practice on some of their tball skills.  Seppe definitely needs the extra practice and Gio just needed to use up some energy.  It is definitely challenging with Seppe but the main thing we want is for him to do is Try.  He his easily discouraged and quick to give up. We are trying really hard to help him understand that as long as he tries His best, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t do it perfectly.  I got a little bit of exercise in running after the balls and throwing back and forth with Gio. It was just nice to have all of us together.

—————————- Turbo Fire Day 21 —————————–

I ran a 5k for my bootycall – beat my last time by 10 seconds. It feels like it is getting harder and harder for me to improve my times. I get excited when it’s even by a few seconds. lol. It was cold at first because of the wind, but I warmed up quickly.

Sunday Runday with my Tone It Up LongSleeve

Today was Fire55 EZ.  This one had fire drills so I’m not really sure what makes it EZ. I went straight to class but I think I should have chose the New to Class option because I was lost quite a few times.  I did do the tuck jumps during the fire drills. Gotta work on getting my knees higher. I tried to do the jump during the high low punches but it threw me off so I just stuck with doing the punches.  The boys interrupted a few times so I had to pause a few times. I tried to do it during the transitions or breaks.

It’s a long class with 3 fire drills so I was pretty worn out at the end. I want to get to bed early tonight because I have to be up early to take Ben to work tomorrow so I ended with a 5 min plank – 1 min on elbows, 1 min on hands (with 30 seconds of tummy tucks), 1 min side plank (with 30 seconds of side crunches) each side, 1 min on hands (30 seconds of each leg being raised off the ground).

Meals –

M1: Mini Luna bar and water

M2: Oatmeal with almond milk and almond butter

Oatmeal I Get from Safeway - need to get more.

MultiGrain Raisin with Almond Milk and Almond Butter

M3: Left over whole wheat pasta with spinach and turkey red sauce. Pasta always tasted even better after a couple days in the fridge :-)

M4: Chocolate Shakeology with almond milk and banana – didn’t spill this time!!

M5: Salmon Burger

BeachBody Challenge Day21

My schedule was thrown out of whack a bit today.  For those that don’t know, Ben is an avid shoe collector – mostly Jordans. This week there was a release of a super limited shoe called the Galaxy Foams.  Hours of standing in line got Ben a chance to get one of only 15 pairs being sold in the bay area. I had agreed to help him get other shoes in the Galaxy series.  The late nights and super early mornings completely wrecked my sleep. I was up at 4a so we could be in line by 5a and waited an hour before they allowed us in. Fortunately, they had a good set up that allowed only people with wristbands inside. I brought a Luna bar and my water so I wouldn’t miss breakfast.

4 of the 12 pairs of shoes bought :-/

I was hoping to get some sleep when we finally got done around 8a. Grandma decided to take us out for breakfast at IHop before heading back home.  I did my best to find something healthy for me to eat and stuck with water to drink. At first I thought that I wouldn’t get any chance to rest because I had to take Seppe to speech therapy.  Luckily, Ben came home and took him so I could sleep for a couple hours.  It wasn’t the best sleep because I woke up thinking I missed Seppe’s therapy session. You know how hard it is to go back to sleep when you wake up all panicky? Yep that was me. lol.

I got up from my nap and ate a mini Luna bar and drank some water.  I needed to get my run in before picking Gio up from school.  Today I wanted to get to 7 miles. I had about an hour and 15 min to get my run done.  I honestly didn’t think I’d do all that well on this run because I was still feeling tired after my nap. I just hoped that I’d be able be back in time.  I did my best and was surprised that I was able to run 7 miles in just over an hour.

———————————- Turbo Fire Day 19 ———————————

I originally thought that I was suppose to do Fire55EZ today, but when I logged onto teamBeachBody.com, I noticed that it said showed that Fire45EZ was on the schedule. I checked my printed schedule and yep – it was Fire45EZ.  I’m glad I checked because it would have been the second time I missed this workout.

Fire45 EZ

This was really fun.  Loved the combos.  I realized why the EZ is in the title – no fire drills :-) The combos were long though and I was sweating like crazy.  I chose the New to Class Option for the breakdowns.  I didn’t do too badly. I definitely picked up all the moves faster.  I did get lost a couple times though. I think it was because I was worn out from the long run and there would just be moments I’d forget what I was suppose to be doing.  I gave it my all and I was completely worn out at the end.

I’ve decided that while I’m doing this Turbo Fire challenge, I will be moving my long run days to Wednesdays – my Turbo Fire rest days.  I will be making my runs longer and longer in prep for my Big Sur race in April and my half marathon in September. I think it’ll just be overdoing it to do Both a long run and Turbo Fire.  Plus, I want to be able to give Turbo Fire my all physically and mentally.

Ending with a 2min plank for PlankAday.

Meals: A little off from my usual because I was out and about a lot, but I made sure to get 5 meals in.

M1 – Luna bar and water.

M2 – IHop Simple and Fit Whole Wheat French Toast combo – it was topped with banana and came with scrambled egg substitute, and 2 pieces of turkey bacon.  I put very little of the Old Fashioned syrup on top of the French Toast. I didn’t mind having a bigger meal because I wanted to fuel up for my run.

M3 – This was a little bit later than I would have liked – had it after my run. White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cliff Bar and Chocolate Zico

M4 – I couldn’t find my olive tapenade :-( otherwise I would have had Nut thins with it. I decided to have Snapea Crips (which I had measured out into individual serving sizes ahead of time) and Chunky Olive Hummus from Trader Joes.

M5: Left over Chicken and Zucchini with a piece of Panko Chicken.  We needed to get rid of all the leftovers.

Chicken and Zucchini w/ Panko Chicken

I also had a Zico while on my run and had 70 oz. of water.

BeachBody Challenge Day18

I am so sore from my workouts yesterday!! I set my alarm so I would get up to do a bootycall workout but it just didn’t happen. It’s something that I’m working on getting back to doing regularly. Got a little thrown off from my morning routine because I had to take both Seppe and Ben to the doctor. Turns out Seppe had an ear infection in both ears and needed antibiotics.  Ben had a virus that the doctor’s didn’t really seem to care about.  They didn’t even give him any suggestions on medicines to take. Not too happy about how they treated him. After the doctor’s office we went to the pharmacy to pick up Seppe’s medicine. Paid extra to get it flavored so he would take it without any drama. And yes, it was worth it!

Taking his Antibiotics with a Smile :-)

—————————— Turbo Fire Day 16 ——————————-

HIIT25/Stretch10

Made sure to get this done before having to pick Gio up from school. Today was a new HIIT workout- HIIT25 with Stretch10. 4 workouts 2 times each. Yikes! I tried to push even harder the second time through. I even did a few of the jumps. This went by so fast.  It felt like I started and then it was over.  All the different moves really help make it seem not that long.

I was going to do another NTC workout, but then I saw a post from Tone It Up to do the Lean Legs Pyramid and the Shredmill back to back. I decided to do it for my second workout. It hurt to do the squats and lunges. I always have to take a couple minutes to stretch after the jumping jacks in the Lean Legs pyramid to stretch out my calves.  They get so tight. I do 100 jumping jacks instead of 100 seconds.

Then off to the gym I went to do the Shredmill. Lately, I’ve just been doing the running to help me for my speed training, but I decided to do the complete workout today.  I upped my sprint speed to 8.7mph. Working on getting to 9mph. For the plank I did 45 seconds. It never fails to have me dripping in sweat when I’m done.

Shredmill!

That pretty much killed my legs. lol. I could barely move after dinner. I wonder if I’ll be able to walk tomorrow? I love it though cuz I know that I’m really pushing myself.

Ended my day with a 2 minute plank.

PlankADay

Meals:

M1: Oatmeal with 1 tbsp of almond butter and a banana

M2: 2 Clementines and 6 dark chocolate almonds.

Meal 2 - 6 dark chocolates and 2 Cuties

M3: Shakeology with frozen pineapple, mango, water and ice.

M4: Nut Thins and Olive Tapenade. I count out 1 serving for the Nut Thins (16).

M5: Panko Chicken and Asparagus

Panko Chicken and Asparagus

BeachBody Challenge Day16

I woke up feeling great. I shook off my rough day and started new. Got up had a Luna bar and made it a Runday with a 5K run. My knees not hurting was great.  I know it probably sounds weird that I am always talking about my knees.  But if you’ve ever had knee problems, you know how great it is to be able to do something you love without having to worry about it hurting. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do back to back runs soon.

——————————— Turbo Fire Day 14 ———————————–

Fire45/Stretch10

I was looking forward to doing Fire45 again :-) I skipped the breakdowns and went straight to class. This is definitely my favorite Fire workout.  I could just do the first combo over and over again and I’d be happy. I didn’t do too badly either. I was able to keep up for most of it. I realized that I’m better leading with my right than my left… well it doesn’t take me as long to catch on when starting on my right.  When we switch to left is when I get confused. lol. It all seems a little awkward at first but then I figure it out.

Did a 5 minute for my PlankADay.

PlankADay

Meals:

M1- Lemon Zest Luna Bar

M2: Egg white burrito.

Egg White Burrito

M3: Fruit Salad with mango, pineapple, kiwi, and apples. Got it from Safeway and shared with my boys.

Tropical Fruit Salad

Seppe Loves Apples

Gio's Favorite - Mango

M4: Apples with vanilla yogurt and granola.  Got this for Gio but he only ate half so I finished it for him :-)

M5: Went shopping before dinner and finally restocked my fridge.  Wanted to make something fairly quick and easy and I found some Turkey Meatball and Frozen Grilled Eggplant and Zucchini at Trader Joes.  I took 4 meatballs and loaded up on the veggies.  The directions had me warm it up in the microwave but I think it would have turned out better if I had put in the oven.  They came out a little soggy but tasted great :-)

BeachBody Challenge Day14

Today was my dad’s birthday :-) Originally I had planned on leaving the night before with all four of us, but since Ben and Seppe were sick, it was just going to be Gio and me. I decided that we would just leave after lunch today. That way I could get in my workouts for the day.

Boys had the day off from school and it was Ben’s day off too.  This meant I could go for a run. Started with a 2 min plank then went on a 3 mile run. Another really good run without knee pain :-)

Fire55 EZ

Got back and did Fire 55 EZ. I did better this time around. This is a long workout but it doesn’t feel that way because it is so much fun. The music is great and there is just so much energy oozing from the TV.  I was pretty worn out after I was done though.

After that, it was time to shower and get going.  I knew I wouldn’t be getting any other workouts in because I would spending 5 hours driving with a few hours at my dad’s visiting my family.  It was worth it. I don’t see my family much these days and it was my dad’s birthday so he deserved special treatment.  I had a great time with my dad, grandparents, brother and sister. Gio even behaved very well.

My Handsome Gio dressed up for his Grandpa's Birthday

Meals:

M1 – Chobani Strawberry with raw almond butter and granola (same portion as yesterday)

M2 – Mini Luna bar

M3- I was on the road driving. I always pack fruit and some snack for me to munch on while I drive to help keep me awake. I have no idea why, but it really helps me.  My lunch was a big batch of grapes and a bag of Snapea Crisps.

M4 – I was still on the road but getting close to my dad’s. I wanted to make sure I was full before I got there because I had no idea what we were having for dinner. I had an Almond Coconut Kind Bar.

M5 – My grandpa made a German dish – I can’t even begin to attempt to spell it. lol.  But it was beer marinated beef with currants and pasta. It was really good and I haven’t had in years. I enjoyed every last bite and even had a small second serving.

My sister made Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for dessert and I took 2 :-) My family is pretty good at cooking. My baby brother told me about putting fresh rosemary inside my olive oil to add some flavor. I can’t wait to try it.

Not the most super Lean and Green days, but I don’t feel guilty at all.  It’s ok to enjoy all the yummy goodies of Life once in a while ;-) Everything in moderation. I think that if I never allowed myself to eat foods I liked, I’d go crazy. lol.

Beach Body Challenge Day12

Turbo Fire Day 10

Rest Day from Turbo Fire Workouts

Even though it was a rest day on my Turbo Fire schedule, I still did a workout. Wednesdays are usually the days I hop on my bike and ride to the park to do Tone It Up’s Stair Circuit. Hump day is when I like to focus on working my booty :-) But I had to change it up for this week.

I knew that I would traveling again on Friday to celebrate my dad’s birthday. I wanted to get my long run in so I decided to do it Wednesday.  I went for a 6.5 mile run. I did it in 57 min :-) I felt great on my run.  I think it helped that I went in a different direction. My knees didn’t bother me at all.  Enjoyed a cold Chocolate Zico when I got home :-)

My Mantra to help keep me going

Post Run Treat - Chocolate Zico - The Best!

Long runs take a lot out of me so I decided that I wouldn’t do anything else besides a 2 min plank for my PlankADay.  I did a long stretch after my run. My knees got a little stiff through out the day but not nearly as bad as they use to get.

PlankADay

M1: oatmeal with almond butter and half a banana. Wanted to fuel up for my run.

M2: mini Luna bar – had this a half hour before I went for my long run.

M3: Snapea Crisps.

M4: Almond coconut Kind Bar

M5: Shakeology with water and ice

Beach Body Challenge Day11

I was determined to overcome my period. I got up and did a 2 min plank followed by Tone It Up’s Valentine’s Day workout in honor of Valentine’s Day :-) I did 2 sets with light weights for my bootycall workout.  After dropping the boys off at school, I went for a 3 mile run.  I had a great run. My knees didn’t hurt and I felt much better. It gave me a nice energy boost.

First Plank

Since we had gone to Vegas a few days ago, that was our Valentine’s celebration. So we didn’t do anything special. It was just the usual for us. Ben had work, Boys had school, and I had workouts :-)

————————— Turbo Fire Day 9 ——————————

HITT 20/ Stretch 10

Did my Turbo Fire workout in the afternoon. It was HIIT 20 and Stretch 1o today.  These  HIIT workouts are no joke! Did 3 different HIITs – 2 of them we did two times in a row and the third one, we did 3 times. My heart was racing the whole time. Definitely needed the Stretch 10 afterwards.

After dinner I decided to do FitFoodJunkie’s 100 challenge and another 2 min plank.

Second Plank

Meals were pretty good:

M1 – Luna bar

M2 – 2 clementines

M3 – Shakeology with half an avocado, water and ice

M4 – almond coconut Kind bar

M5 – Balsamic Tilapia with broccoli and quinoa

Balsamic Tilipa, Quinoa and Broccoli

Beach Body Challenge Day6

It was really nice sleeping in. I woke up around 8a and just enjoyed Not hearing the sound of my boys fighting. lol. It is amazing how quiet things are without them around. I almost forgot what it’s like.  The beds weren’t too bad at the hotel. It’s hard for me to ever be comfortable in a bed that isn’t mine.  We have a Temperpedic and it is worth every single penny!

Our room didn’t have a fridge – besides the mini bar, so I had a Luna bar for breakfast. Ben had a Cliff bar and he decided that he’d come with me to the gym :-)  After doing a 2min plank (just me), we strapped on our running shoes and walked through the hotel to get to their Cardio room. I went over to the treadmills and he headed for the ellipticals. I love hotel gyms because they have the Best equipment.  These treadmills had a TV, attachments for iPhone, and a fan.  I chose to do a 5K program. Did pretty good and stuck to a 7mph pace.

—————————– Turbo Fire Day 4 ———————————

I decided to do my Turbo Fire workout when I got back from the hotel gym. I wanted to get my workouts out of the way so we could do whatever we needed to for the rest of the day.

Today was Fire 30 and Stretch 10. I still did the New to Class option.  I definitely did better.  This workout is so much fun.

Fire 30 Stretch 10

———————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Meal 2 was skipped. By the time I was done working out and showering, it was time for lunch. We headed to my favorite place: Bahama Breeze. I use to work at one when I lived in Florida and Vegas is the closest place for me to get their amazing food.  I Always go there for lunch when I go to Vegas. Their menu has changed a little since I’ve worked there but their atmosphere and quality is still great. It always brings back happy memories of my good friends and good times I had when I go there.

I decided to try out one of their new salads : Grilled Chicken and Tropical Fruit on Greens.  This was soooooo good! In hindsight I should have asked for the dressing on the side. It was Raspberry Vinaigrette but they had more on there than I would have liked. I am not big on salad dressing and I only ever use a very tiny bit.  The salad was still amazing though.  It had pineapple, grapes, oranges, and strawberries. I ate every last bit :-) I did have one drink: their Pineapple Coconut Martini.  It’s one they’ve added since I’ve worked there and it’s my favorite.  Usually I’d just have them keep them coming, but I stuck with just one and lots of water :-) Ben got his usual Jerk Shrimp appetizer.  I was very proud that he didn’t order an entree too. He’s working on getting use to smaller portions.

Ben with my drink and his

Chicken and Tropical Fruit on Greens

After lunch we  toured the Las Vegas Tower.  For those that don’t know, Ben is an air traffic controller.  He wanted to see if the Vegas tower was some place he would want to transfer to after SFO. It is very interesting listening to them talk about the differences between the towers.  It looks like that they are already fully staffed so it will be a while before Ben can go there.  They were all very friendly and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

We headed over to the Cosmo for Ben to talk with a few people. He was very happy to have found a store that was carrying a shoe he really wanted.  The Cosmo is just so hip and fun. lol. I loved the Chandelier hanging from the ceiling and going all the way down. It was just so pretty :-)

Inside the Cosmo - 2nd Floor

We walked across the street to the Miracle Mile Mall. We walked the whole thing :-) Now I remember that we also walked it the day before… our first day in Vegas. lol. I had seen some shoes I wanted the day before. I went back in and got them today. Well, not exactly the ones I wanted.  The shoes I wanted were sold out in my size. They had my size in different style so I went for one that wasn’t as crazy as some of my other choices.

New Kicks - BlowFish

These shoes are super comfy!! I thought that they’d be stiff, but not at all. I took off my boots and wore these around and my feet felt great :-)

Meal 4 was Almond Coconut Kind Bar. We went back to our hotel and relaxed for a little bit.  We were a little worn out so we decided to stay at our hotel for dinner.  We didn’t want to do a fancy restaurant again so we decided to do California Pizza Kitchen.  I ordered a thin crust Spinach Artichoke pizza made with whole wheat flour.  Again, Ben liked it better than his pizza :-) I only had two slices.  I heard about the Kardashian Khaos Store inside the Mirage so we went to check it out after dinner.

I’m not a huge fan of the Kardashians, but I am a Huge fan of Stila Cosmetics.  I was surprised to see that they did an exclusive makeup collection for the Kardashian Khaos store.  There were two sets and I had the hardest time deciding which to get. I really wanted both but I decided to exercise some will power.  I chose the Bronze set since I use more of those colors on a daily basis than the ones inside the Night time set.

Stila Makeup for Kardashian Khaos

We went back to our hotel room and got ready to head over to our friends’ house out in Henderson.  We don’t get to see them much so we wanted to make sure we stopped by for a bit.  We always have a great time with them. Malissa and I will be doing the Disney Half Marathon in September together :-)  We stayed for a couple hours then headed back to the hotel.  Ben had to be up early the next day.

My Goal for this Year!

20120203-194944.jpg

My Big Goal for this year is to run my First Half Marathon!

I would really love to do the Nike Women’s Marathon/Half Marathon this October. It is a Huge race with over 20,000 people expected. Eeeeeks! It’s gotten so popular that they do a lottery for individual spots. There hasn’t been an official date on when registration starts but the date for the race is:
Image

Even registering early right doesn’t guarantee you a spot. I plan on signing up on the first day but just in case I don’t get a spot I’ve signed up to do the Disney Half Marathon in September :-)
I’m doing it with a friend of mine and making it a Girls’ Weekend. If I happen to get a spot in the Nike Women’s event, I will still do it :-) It’ll be about a month and half after the Disney race so I should be ok.

I am so excited and nervous about doing a half marathon. The distance seems so intimidating right now. I have already started training for it. I plan on doing a few smaller races leading up to it to help prep for it :-)

2012 is going to a great year!!!
