BeachBody Day51 – A Close Call

And I’m back! Well… I’m trying to get back to my BeachBody Challenge and my workout routine in general.  It’s been a couple weeks :-/  If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you know that I had a family emergency with a really scary close call with Ben in the hospital for 5 days. I am truly grateful to live in a time where modern medicine was able to save Ben’s life without having to cut him open.  He’s doing very well and already back to work :-)

The day he was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance was Day51 of my Beach Body Challenge and I was actually able to finish my workouts.  I went for an 8 mile bike ride in the morning. The boys wanted to go for a swim and Ben wanted to workout at the gym as soon as I got back. I couldn’t believe that the boys actually jumped into the pool. It was only 58 degrees out! In hind sight, Ben probably shouldn’t have worked out because he wound up throwing up when we got back home. The vomitting is what tore his stomach and it just happened to be right over an artery so he started to bleed out without knowing it until much later.

The beginning of our day: Top (R-L) - Avocado Egg Salad Sandwich, Seppe enjoying his lunch, Core20/Stretch40 workout. Bottom - 8 mile bike ride and the boys jumping into the pool.

He got through most of his shift before he started to feel light headed and looking really pale.  He had gone to the bathroom throughout  the day but didn’t realize that he was bleeding out.  He decided to take the rest of the day off but went to bathroom one last time and that was when he started throwing up blood :-( This was when they called the ambulance and sent him to the hospital.  I got the call just as I was starting dinner for the boys.  My heart sank but I focused on doing what needed to be done. I got the boys ready and out the door. I immediately called his parents hoping that one of them would come.  I wasn’t sure how bad Ben was. I was worried how the boys were going to handle the ER.

Fortunately, the ER wasn’t busy or crazy at all. Ben was in a room and looked terrified.  The boys were ok until they tried to put a tube down Ben’s nose and throat.  It started a vomitting fit and he threw up so much blood.  This scared both of the boys and I knew that it was time to go. It broke my heart to leave. I didn’t want to leave Ben there all alone. He kept asking what was wrong with him. Seppe was in full tears and Gio was doing his best to be strong but I could see tears in his eyes. I promised Ben that I’d be back. I was grateful that Ruth called and said that she would come that night.  I took the boys home and made them a late dinner. I didn’t have an appetite at all. I had to wait 2 hours for Ruth to come from Sacramento.

Turbo Fire Day 49 – While I waited, I did the Core20 and Stretch40.  I needed to keep busy. I was trying not to freak out and cry in front of the boys. It was really hard, but doing the workouts helped, especially the Stretch40.  The yoga really helped with the stress and tension. I didn’t enjoy the relaxation part as much. It was hard to clear my mind. I was so worried and scared. At least I didn’t spend an hour just sitting there freaking out.

As soon as I was finished, I got dressed and waited another half hour before Ruth arrived and went back to the hospital as soon as she got here. I went back to the ER but they had already transferred him to ICU.  This, of course, added to my worry. I had to wait a half hour before they let me in to see him.  He as so weak and pale.  He was half asleep. I was allowed to spend the night and I did. It was a Long night.  Neither one of us slept that much.  Ben was restless but was not allowed to get up at all. I helped bring him his bed pan and anything else he needed in between the nurses coming in to help. They were great at being there for pretty much everything. Ben was not happy because he wasn’t allowed to eat or drink anything.  The enoscopy was scheduled for the morning and they needed his stomach to be as empty as possible.

Anytime Ben went to the bathroom he would also throw up blood. They were giving him blood to try and stay ahead of the blood loss. I think they didn’t realize how much he had already lost while at work and in the ER. They hoped that the procedure would help them find the cause of the bleed (they didn’t know yet) and stop it. The procedure in the morning didn’t help much.  It ruled out their first diagnosis of a stomach ulcer but there was so much blood that they weren’t able to see where it was coming from.  They decided to repeat the procedure in the afternoon with Ben completely sedated so they could suck out all the blood in area. It was a long 4 hours in between the procedures. Ben wasn’t doing well at this point. We knew that if they couldn’t find the the source of bleeding with the second enoscopy that he would need surgery.

The second enoscopy took longer so I was worried that he had gone into surgery. I was relieved when the nurse told me that they found the source of the bleed and were able to stop it.  When they allowed me back into his room, he was still sleeping but I could already see the color coming back to his skin.  I hadn’t noticed how pale he really was until I saw him with some color.  A couple hours later he was awake enough to talk to his dad and the boys :-) They were still giving him blood though because his blood count was still low.  I think this was when they realized that he had lost more than they originally thought.   It took 2 more nights in the ICU to get his blood count back up.  All in all he was given 12 units of blood. The GI doctor that worked on him told him it was the worst bleed he’d seen and all the nurses kept telling him that he was very lucky. They kept him one more day in MedSurge for observation and then let him go home. I stayed with him every night.

I am truly grateful for his parents who both came to help with the boys. We are extremely thankful for the Doctors and Nurses who saved Ben’s life. Also, Thank You to our Family and Friends who reached out to us by sending us your thoughts, prayers, wishes, txts, messages, calls and emails. I apologize if I did not reply to everyone. This whole situation has really shown me who I can really count on and what is really important. I have been focusing a lot on spending quality time with my family and enjoying Life.  Sorry that this was so long. Thank you to those of you who read the whole thing :-) Life is too Short and too Precious to waste.  Tell those that you care about that you Love them and Make Every Day Count!

5 days and 4 nights at the hospital (3 days in ICU): Top - Seppe and me in ICU, Gio playing w/ Ben's phone, Seppe with the skeleton doctor. Bottom - Ben's ICU room and Gio in Ben's MedSurge room.

Pretty much what I lived on while I was at the hospital with Ben. Didn't have much of an appetite for the first few days. Brought my water bottle to stay hydrated.

BeachBody Day56 – Hydrated!

It’s been really hard for me to get back on track with drinking enough water.  I’ve fallen back into my bad habit :-( So I made it a point to stay hydrated today.  I was doing pretty well, up until we made a quick trip out to the city.  I think I hesitate to drink while in the car because I know that I will have to go to the bathroom. lol. But I got back on track once we got home :-)

Plateau Buster on the Treadmill

Started Friday the 13th of with Tone It Up’s Self Magazine Drop10 Plateau Buster HIIT workout.  This was a long one.  Decided to do it on the treadmill since the intervals were longer.  I set the incline to 2. My work speed was 7.5mph and my rest speed was 6- 6.5mph. It worked up a good sweat :-)

All Sweaty!

Turbo Fire Day 54 – After Seppe’s speech therapy class, it was time for Fire30 and Stretch10. I think I have this one almost memorized. It was nice to have a couple fire drills again. I got Gio to join me for the Stretch10 part.  It was funny to watch him copy the moves. Some of them he did really well and others he needs some more practice on :-)

I was actually pretty wiped out after those two workouts. Even though I didn’t want to, I did my PlankADay.  I decided to do a 2min PlankADay.

Meals-

M1: Soy Protein Banana/Chocolate Chunk muffin from TraderJoe’s. I really like having these for a quick on the go breakfast.  I had it before I went down to the gym so I’d have a little fuel for the HIIT workout.

M2: Luna bar and chocolate Zico. There is just something about Luna bars and Zico that just works perfectly together :-)

M3: Shakeology shake w/ unsweetened vanilla almond milk, spinach, and half a banana.

M4: Almond coconut Kind bar.

M5: Teriyaki Salmon and Broccoli.

80 oz. of water, 1 Zico, and 1c. of decaf green tea.

Beach Body Day54 – Doubts

TurboFire Rest Day. That meant it was a long run day for me :-) I decided to do it first thing in the morning to get it out of the way. Ben took the day off so we could spend the day with the kids before they went back to school and before Ben went back to work.

I got up and made breakfast. I always eat before my long runs and I like to give myself a half hour to and hour after eating before I run. I also decided to do some foam rolling because my legs were so tight from my HIIT workout last night.

I was hoping to beat my time from last week but it didn’t happen :-( My legs were sore from the HIIT and I could feel them the whole time. I had side cramps and there was several times I just wanted to stop. But I didnt. I ran the whole way even though towards the end I wanted to cry. My legs hurt so badly. I am definitely not going to do a HIIT workout the night before my log run again.

I was completely wiped out when I got home. I was also feeling a little bummed that my run didn’t go well. I was doubting whether or not I was going to be able to do a half marathon. 9 miles was so hard – 13 seemed impossible. It was hard to get out of my little funk. I had to keep myself busy so I wouldn’t think about it. I know that I just have to keep working on it and I’ll get to my goal. I won’t give up.

My legs were pretty much dead for the rest of the day. It hurt to walk. I decided to take rest for the rest of the day so I can have a decent workout tomorrow. I did a 5min plank to end my day.

1min hands, 1min side plank each side, 1min hands, 1min elbows.

Meals –
M1: Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal w/ almond butter, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, chia seeds and fresh apples.

Fueling up for my run :-)

M2: Grapefruit with a handful of almonds.

My favorite - Grapefruit.

M3: Chocolate Shakeology w/ strawberries, blueberries, frozen pineapple and spinach.

Ready for my Shakeology.

Seppe decided he wanted some too.

M4: Luna bar.

M5: Left over Turkey and spinach red sauce on top of quinoa, grilled veggies, peas, mushrooms and olives.

Leftover Turkey spinach Red sauce with quinoa and peas.

60 oz of water and 2 Zicos.

BeachBody Challenge Day50

I’ve decided to take Saturdays off from blogging/social networking. It’s a busy day for me with the boy’s tball games and I like to enjoy the day with my family without worrying about my blog, Twitter, and Facebook. As much as I love being online, I think it’s good to unplug and focus on what is most important :-)

But since, it’s Sunday – I’ve plugged back in. lol. Yesterday wasn’t too bad of a day. I enjoyed sleeping in. I tried out Kale Chips for the first time. Yum!! And Ben liked them too so I will definitely be making more :-) I also prepped a kale salad using the salad dressing from Karena’s recipe.  I would have loved to make the exact one they have on their blog but I didn’t have all the ingredients. I put in what I had and I’m looking forward to having it for dinner tonight.

1st Time making Kale Chips - success!

Salad prepped for Sunday dinner: Kale, carrots, tomatoes, kidney beans, and black beans.

Workouts:

Mad Abs March Day 24 – 37 pushups!! Yikes! I’m actually sore from it today.

Went for a 4 mile run.

Easy pace for my run.

Can you tell that I got rained on?

Ben and the boys at the spa while it rained.

Tone It Up’s Self Magazine Drop10 Toning Workout – used 5lb. weights and a 10lb.Kettlebell. I was going to use my usual 6lb. medicine ball but Gio convinced me to use the heavier kettle bell for a challenge.

Turbo Fire Day 48 – Fire45 is more like a dance party to me than a workout.  This has the Best music and is so much fun!! I’m always singing “Boom I Got Your Boyfriend” for the rest of the day :-) I really wish I could get the soundtrack to these workouts to have on my iPhone.  I’d probably bust out doing the moves when I hear it.

2 min plank – 30 second on hands, 30 second each side, 30 seconds on hands. I really didn’t feel like doing it but I made myself.  Doing these PlankADays has really helped my core and if I skip more than one day, I’ll keep on skipping. Gotta stay on top of it.

Meals:

M1 – Mini Luna bar. Needed to put something in my stomach since I slept in.

M2 – 2 Buckwheat Banana Pancakes with Maple Syrup and 4 Apple Chicken Sausages.

Smile :-)

When I'm craving syrup for my pancakes I turn to TJ's Organic Maple Syrup.

M3 – Left over Trader Joe’s Turkey Chili with Beans on top of Brown Rice with spinach added in.

Warmed up the Brown rice and Chili, added spinach and mixed. The heat softened the spinach up.

M4 – Peanut and Dark Chocolate Kind Bar.

M5 – Quinoa with Turkey and Spinach Red Sauce

60 o.z of water and 1 Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day49

What a Long day! I could have really used a nap today. Today was Gio’s last day before his 3 week Spring Break :-/ I will have to change up my routine a little bit and hopefully I will get a week break with them at Grandmas – fingers crossed. lol.

Day Started at 6a – Bootycall: Day 23 of Mad Abs March – 36 pushups, 44sec side plank, and 46 crunches + MiyaTv Beach Workout with Tone It Up – 20 reps eachX3 sets. Used 6lb. medicine ball during lunges and 5lb. weights for dead lifts.

Self Magazine & Tone It Up Drop10 Diet Inch Eraser HIIT workout. Incline set at 3 during the workout and at 5 during the cool down. Jogging pace was 6.5mph and Sprint pace was 8-8.2 mph. The last few 90 sec sprints were tough.

Tone It Up and Self Magazine's Drop10 Challenge :-) Join Now!

Week1 Workout2 - Inch Eraser 90 sec Sprint/ 3min jog Repeat 6X with 5min cool down

Tone It Up’s Friday Happy Hour Challenge – 40 of your Favorite Exercise Every Hour! – I chose to do tummy tucks :-) Started at 9a ended at 10p. Missed a couple hours but made them up by adding an extra set the following couple hours.

Turbo Fire Day 47 – Did this a lot later than I usually do. Fire55EZ is a long workout but I went all out today.  I had an audience with Ben and the boys watching me the whole time :-/ Lol. I felt like I jumped really high during the tuck jumps today! I could feel my feet actually leave the ground :-) Tuck jumps are super hard for me so I’m really happy that I’m improving.

That pretty much wiped me out. Ending with a 2 min plank.

Meals:

M1: Leftover protein pancake with almond butter, banana, and cinnamon with a side of fruit salad.

Last protein pancake and fruit bowl.

M2: 1/4 c. of Dark Choc Almonds – on the go.

M3: Finally tried the Avocado Egg Salad from Self Magazine Drop10 menu. It was soooo good!! I only used plain Chobani Greek yogurt and mustard. I haven’t had a whole egg in a while but it was nice to have it again. I like that it only calls for one egg.  My 5 yr. old loved it and wants it for lunch tomorrow so it’s definitely a keeper :-)

Avocado Egg Salad from Drop10 Diet Menu

M4: Post workout shake – Chocolate Shakeology with almond butter and frozen blueberries. Seppe decided to drink a good portion of it too. lol. He loves Chocolate Shakeology.

~ While at Seppe’s practice, I got a little hungry. I reached in my bag for a power bar but got an almond Snickers bar. It’s been in there for about a month. lol. I decided to eat it :-) I haven’t had a candy bar in a Long time and I needed some “happy” food.

M5: Didn’t have anything prepped for dinner and I was super tired.  Ben wanted Panda and got some for him and the boys. I went for some Trader Joe’s Turkey Chili with Beans. The can is 2 servings so I just had half so I only had 1 serving :-) It was  actually very filling and yummy.

Trader Joe's Turkey Chili with Beans

80 oz. water and 1 Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day48

Despite a rough emotional night, I got up at 6a and did Tone It Up’s Self Magazine Drop10 Toning workout and Mad Abs March Day22. The 35 pushups were extremely hard. I think it’s because I did Day21 last night instead of yesterday in the morning. My arms were still fired from the 34 pushups.

Turbo Fire Day 46 – I think I’m doing better with the bicep curls in Tone30. I think I’d do better with weights than the band especially since it’s only 1 set of 12 followed with a set of 8. I think the band is working though. I guess I just want to see faster results. lol. I think I’ve got Fire30 down! Had so much fun today. I always have fun with the Fire workouts.  It’s dancing and kickboxing mixed together with HIIT to great music.  I really wish I had someone to do it with.

I kind of swapped my days on my Drop10 Challenge.  Today was suppose to be a Rest day but since all I did was run yesterday, I counted that as my Rest Day.  I wanted to do the second HIIT workout, but just didn’t have time. I’m glad though because my knees and legs are still tight from yesterday’s long run.  I did do the Toning workout earlier and Tomorrow’s schedule is the second HIIT so I will definitely be doing it :-)

Ben wanted to brush up on his basketball skills before playing with his coworkers tonight, so we went to the park and played a couple games of 21. Let’s just say that I have a slight Disadvantage with Ben being a whole foot taller than me :-/ Lol. He was nice enough not to just stand by the net and score off my many missed free throws. I did score some points by taking advantage of his missed shots thought :-) It was a lot of fun. We went back to the park with the boys but I did an NTC workout (Fighter Fit) while he played with Gio.  I chose one that didn’t require any equipment and it was really nice to workout outdoors.

I didn’t want to do my Plank for today.  I had already done one during the MadAbs workout and during the NTC workout.  But I made myself do a 5 min plank to end my night. For the last minute I did hip dips and tried a move Chalene Johnson posted.

“Start on your elbow in plank. Slowly rotate and drop your left hip allow the right foot to lift and hips to stack. Alternate slowly dropping, rotating to tap each hip."

Meals:

M1: Mutligrain Raisin Oatmeal w/ cocoa almond butter, blueberries, and chia seeds.

M2: Fruit Salad w/ handful of almonds.

Fruit for a big salad I made for Gio - and me :-)

Added a handful of almonds for some protein.

M3: Salmon, brown rice, spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms.

Salmon Rice bowl topped with avocado.

M4: Larabar

M5: Salmon, broccoli, and asparagus.

60 oz. of water and 1 Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day46

I forced myself out of bed at 6a today. I think my main problem is that I stay up way too late. Lol. Gotta make an effort to get to bed earlier so I have the energy to do my workouts and deal with Life.  Started with Day20 of MadAbs March. 32 Pushups!! It’s slow going once I hit 20, but I manage to do it all on my feet :-) Did Tone It UP’s SelfMagazine Drop10 Toning workout – used 6lb. medicine ball again for Side Slimmer and Kick Outs. The Total Transformer Move was really hard on my knees this morning so after the first set, I modified it by bending my knees and doing one leg at a time.

After dropping the boys off at school and doing some grocery shopping, it was time for Turbo Fire.

Restocked my Fruit Bowl

Turbo Fire Day44 – Started with Sculpt30. I really focus on making the bands tighter for the bicep curls. I want to have some guns :-) Lol. Mini ones at least. Did some more pushups on my feet for this workout.  After doing 32, a set of 4 and a set of 8 wasn’t too bad. The tricep exercises were tough today because my arms were sore from doing the Drop10 workout.  I went all out for Fire30.  Did all the jumps and turns.  I Punched and Kicked hard. Having so much fun now that I know all the moves.

Before dinner I hit the gym to do Tone It Up’s Max Burn Pyramid X2. For the 5 minute runs, I did it an incline of 5 – to get some hill training in. I was drenched with sweat at the end. I’ve been wanting to do this workout since it was posted. I love it.

Total Miles doing Max Burn Pyramid

Counting the Side Planks from this mornings’ Mad Abs Day20 and the two planks for the MaxBurn Pyramid as part of my plankaday. I’m just way too tired to do a separate on tonight. I’ll make sure to do a long one tomorrow.

Meals – Fuel up day for my long run tomorrow so a little more carbs.

M1: Chobani Champions Chocolate Chunk w/ almond butter and chia seeds.

M2: Half a banana that Gio didn’t want to eat for breakfast, a small pear and 6 dark chocolate almonds.

Fruit, Nuts and Chocolate :-)

M3: Left over Seafood, Veggies, Quinoa, and Black Bean Collard Wrap w/ frozen grapes. Seppe ate half the grapes – looks like someone else has realized how yummy frozen grapes are :-)

Collard Wrap with Grapes

M4: Almond Coconute Kind Bar

M5: Whole Wheat past with ground turkey and spinach red sauce.

Whole Wheat pasta to carb up for tomorrow's long run.

80 oz. of water and a Zico.

BeachBody Challenge Day45

I decided to join Tone It Up and Self Magazine’s Drop 10 Challenge. I’m not looking to lose 10 lbs – only 5 at the most.  And if I don’t lose any, I wouldn’t be disappointed either. I am always looking for new and fun ways to get toned.  Self Magazine and Tone It Up had a great workout last year so I knew this one would be a good one too. I checked out the workouts and the menu first.  The meals really got my attention. I am dying to try the Avocado Egg Salad.  I would have made it today if I had the ingredients. I will be heading to the store to stock up on ingredients tomorrow :-)

I missed my bootycall workout this morning though. I turned my alarm off and fell back asleep – before I knew it, it was an hour later O_o Lol. It was a rush to get the kids to school.  After Seppe’s speech therapy, I decided to get my TurboFire workout done. I did Day19 of Mad Abs March first – 37 sec side plank, 38 crunches, and 31 pushups. Oh man the pushups were hard today, but I am determined to do them all on my feet.

Turbo Fire Day 43 – I really focused on my intensity with Fire55EZ today.  I punched hard and kicked as high as I could.  I jumped with the high low punches and did all the tuck jumps :-) The hour just flew by and I was a little sad when it was over.  I seriously have so much fun with these workouts.

For my afternoon workout I did the Toning and Cardio HIIT workouts for the Drop10 Challenge. When I looked at the toning workout, I wasn’t sure how difficult it would be.  It looked pretty straight forward. It turned out to be tougher than I thought :-/ The Total Transformer move was killer, along with the Super Plank.  My favorite was the Kick Out and Side Slimmer. I added a 6 lb. medicine to the Side Slimmer and to the Kick Out. I used 5 lb. weights for the other exercises. I think I’ll be doing this workout for bootycalls. The HIIT workout was 15 min with 8 sec sprints and 12 second recovery.  I think I sprinted for about 10 sec at a time.  I added a 3 incline during the intervals and did a 5 incline for the 5 min cool down.  It was short but I was drenched in sweat when I was done – that’s why I love HIIT workouts.  They don’t have to be long to get your sweating :-)

Drop10 HIIT workout - 15min w/ 5min cool down at incline 5.

To makeup for missing my bootycall workout, I did two NTC workouts – Ab Burner and Shawn Johnson’s Stretch Guide.  The stretching felt great. I’m no where near as flexible as Shawn Johnson but the moves really stretched me out. Ended with a 2 min a plank on my hands.

Meals – I didn’t have everything I needed to follow the meal plan for the Drop 10 but I will definitely be picking up ingredients for the recipes that I want to try. And there are quite a few recipes on the meal plan that I want to try out :-)  I am really enjoying my Meatless Mondays. It’s really not that hard to find other sources of protein.

M1: FlaxPlus Oatmeal with 1/2 tbsp of cocoa almond butter, chia seeds and strawberries.

Just a little bit of cocoa almond butter goes a long way.

M2: Red Pear – this was really sweet and juicy.

Mini Red Pear was sweet and juicy.

M3: Black beans, brown rice and spinach sautéed together and topped with avocado and tomato.

This was filling and yummy :-)

M4: Veggie and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips with Olive Tapenade

I love these Veggie Flaxseed Tortilla Chips from TraderJoes.

M5: Teriyaki Tofu browned and served with brussel sprouts.

Tofu and Veggies.

80 oz. of water.

BeachBody Challenge Day44

Last night I realized how worn out I was from this last week. I thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in until 9a and not getting out of bed until 10a :-) The boys actually slept in too but they were up at 8a. I got up and had a little something to eat before heading out for my run.  It wasn’t raining today but it was pretty windy.  I went 4 miles and had a great run despite the crazy wind.  It’s amazing how much getting enough rest impacted my run.  Yesterday, I felt a little sluggish on my run.  It felt hard to get my legs moving like I wanted, but today I felt like my legs were flying even though they were still a little sore. I can really tell difference between my runs when I get extra sleep and eat a little something and when I run with an empty stomach with less sleep.

I had lots of cleaning to do but I decided that after a week of being cooped up inside the house because of rain, the boys needed to get out! We walked over to the park and I let them play for a bit.  Then, I had them run around the park as practice for a race that they want to do next month.  I’m really excited that they want to do races.  It’s just a fun kid race, but I’m hoping that one day we can do 5k’s as a family :-) Seppe did really well running for most of the time. Gio did his usual – go as fast as he can then walks for a bit and then runs again. When it was time to go home, they wanted to take the Long way home. I was worried that there would be lots of whining – especially from Seppe, but they did really well.  We walked by the Library, Police Station, Fire Station and City Hall.  The boys were fascinated by the buildings and were very happy that they got to have a “tour.”  All in all it was a 2 mile walk.

Heading out for our walk.

In front of City Hall - a little sunshine before we got rained on.

Fascinated by how the water moved in the fountain.

I did some cleaning when we got home and they relaxed by watching a movie. I didn’t do my Turbo Fire workout until after they went to bed.

Turbo Fire Day42 – I like to do Core20 and Stretch40 at night.  I don’t have to worry about being quiet because there’s no jumping.  I’m still working on keeping my feet up during the Training Camp exercise. The mat exercises are really tough. Stretch40 is just amazing. It’s exactly what my body needed and a perfect way to end my day.  I feel so relaxed after it.

Meals –

M1: Luna bar – just something quick before going for a run.

M2: Chocolate Shakeology with Zico and avocado.

Chocolate Shakeology plus Zico - Yummy Post Run shake :-)

M3: I really didn’t know what to have for lunch. I just wasn’t in the mood for a salad. I wound up having a whole wheat sandwich thin with hummus, avocado, and tomato sprinkled with sea salt.

One of my favorites.

M4: Larabar

M5: Seafood quinoa mix – seafood blend from Trader Joes with shrimp, calamari, and scallops mixed with green beans, bell peppers, squash, and zucchini.  Used FitFoodJunkies Balsamic/Honey sauce. Yes, I love this sauce and will be using it a lot : -)

Seafood and Quinoa mix.

60 oz. of water and a Zico

BeachBody Challenge Day43

Saturday was another family day.  Since the boys T-Ball games got cancelled because of the rainy weather, I decided that we would go with my brother to my Aunt’s house to visit with the rest of my family. It’s always nice to see my Aunt, Grandparents, Dad and Sister.  My aunt prepared a great lunch that was really healthy too :-) I would have liked Ben to have been there, but he wasn’t feeling well so he stayed home.  It did give us more time to spend with my family though because we didn’t have to rush back to get Bent to work like we originally planned.  The boys were fairly well behaved and I enjoyed sitting and talking with everyone :-) My aunt, sister and I talked a little bit about our upcoming Big Sur Race. We’re all excited about it and training hard for it. The boys had a great time and I really want to make an effort to have the them spend more time with my grandpa and my dad. I learned a lot from these two and I hope that my boys can learn from them too.

My boys Love their Grandpa Dan

I did get my workouts in.

Bootycall was  Day17 of MadAbs Mach – 35sec side plank, 35 crunches, and 29 pushups – these was the hardest so far. I did these very slowly at the end. Followed it with a 3 mile run. Thought my brother would join me but he was still sleeping when I went out. lol.

Turbo Fire Day41 – I did Fire45 after getting back from visiting with my family.  The boys were a little worn out so they relaxed in my room with a movie while  I worked out.  I really look forward to doing this workout.  I love the music and the moves. It’s 45 minutes of pure fun for me :-)

Meals – I did alright.  Didn’t get all 5 meals in and I didn’t stay as hydrated as I would have liked. I always slack on my water when I wind up traveling somewhere :-/

M1: Chobani champions with almond butter and chia seeds.

M2: Skipped – I was in a bit of a rush trying to get the boys ready and myself ready to head to my aunt’s in time for lunch.

M3: My aunt made Cream of Broccoli soup but with avocado instead of cream.  It was sooo  good. I also had some tortilla chips with a few of her dips she made. She had a clam, bean, and spinach dip.

Cream of Broccoli - made with avocado instead of cream :-)

Tortilla chips w/ small amounts of dips - Clam, White Bean, and Spinach.

M4: My boys took apart their sandwiches and just ate the turkey inside so I took their pieces of bread and topped it with my aunt’s spinach dip (made with greek yogurt) and put 2 bell peppers on top.

Spinach dip on top of whole wheat bread w/ bell peppers

M5: Salmon and quinoa bowl w/ collard greens, peas, corn, bell peppers and carrots.

Salmon and Quinoa Bowl

60 oz. of water and 1 Zico.
